SUSTAINABILITY

Since Yaffle & Bosk began sustainability has been integral to everything we do.

The future of forests is our future too, that's why we're doing things differently. We're championing the use of native timbers, planting back trees for every order and making use of every last bit of our materials.

We believe a  piece of furniture should be built (and bought) to last with as little impact on the environment as possible. At Yaffle & Bosk, we're proud to be at the forefront of furniture makers out there to create a difference.

LOW MILEAGE FURNITURE

At every possible opportunity, we use local materials. With superb independent sawmills and artisan steel fabricators on your doorstep, why would you not work with them!

This means our pieces are always high quality and low mileage.

SUSTAINABLE SOURCING

Along with local Devon suppliers, we also strive to use trees that have come to their natural end of life and have been felled because they are dangerous or simply windblown.

This means our footprint is minimal and we're maximising material.

TABLES CRAFTED TO ORDER

We always make our furniture to order. This means that we're never crafting without intention. Every piece we make was ordered first, not the other way around. Stack 'em high and sell 'em cheap is not our thing!

A TREE PLANTED FOR EVERY ORDER

Being based in beautiful North Devon, we're in the perfect spot to be able to replant and reforest as a result of our work.

We started the initiative that for every table order, we'll plant a tree. Little things add up.

SMALLER PRODUCTS

We don't let anything go to waste. We have a well-considered and classic range of smaller products that utilise offcuts and leftover material from the big brother items.

We hate seeing beautiful timber not being used so if we can whip up a smaller product then we will!

WOOD SHAVINGS = MULCH

With our workshop being located close to one of the few Devon vineyards and lots of open farmland we can easily repurpose and donate our leftover wood shavings. This means that even our waste can serve a sustainable purpose and aid in the growth of plants.

WHY DO WE DO THINGS THIS WAY?

We just feel it's the better way of doing things. Yaffle & Bosk is striving to have as little impact on the environment as possible and by adopting the eco-initiatives above, we feel we're going down the right route.

We absolutely love to see that connection between the source tree and the finished table - regardless of design, each and every one of our pieces is simply unique due to this fabulously inconsistent, very natural material. Beautiful variations in grain and tone and where necessary small, handcrafted repairs all tell this story. It is furniture with soul. If you do get a hand-cut bow tie somewhere on your table, we see this as very much a bonus!
